As we kick off the new year, many brides are researching trends and visuals to put together the perfect ceremony this year. Just like trends in fashion, wedding trends emerge, fall out of popularity, and re-emerge. Here are five trends on the rise to consider for your 2018 ceremony.
1. Navy is The New Black
According to Wedding Wire, the deep blue color is replacing the classic black in couples’ color palette. From bridesmaids’ dresses and invitations to neutral design accents, it looks like couples are going with navy. Have no fear! Black won’t completely disappear as more brides are including black accents in their bridal looks.
2. Ceiling Decorations
Instead of keeping the attention on the ground, experts say to expect an increase in couples opting to include ceiling pieces in their wedding and reception spaces. Designs include hanging floral arrangements. This decor selection plays with viewpoints and heights and adds a new dynamic to the celebration space.
3. Fun Dessert Tables
2017 was the year of non-traditional desserts like donuts. While couples still want traditional cakes, if only to create the classic cake-cutting moment and have photographs, quirky table setups and selections are on the rise and expected to grow in 2018. Don’t be surprised if you see cheesecakes, ice cream sandwiches, and popsicles as dessert options.
4. Copper and Silver
As we begin to move away from the rose gold craze, couples will still incorporate similar metallics like copper and silver in their reception spaces. As for copper, the material is inexpensive and does wonders with lighting like candles. While copper is more of a staple for fall weddings, silver and chrome will be the metallics of the moment for winter, spring, and summer ceremonies.
5. Richer Color Hues
Expect to see more burgundies and other rich colors included in couples’ wedding decor. The idea for 2018 is to create moods and a dramatic effect rather than simply picking a palette. This trend will definitely be seen more in floral arrangements.
